By educating the community on crime prevention techniques and getting citizens involved in crime prevention activities, we can reduce the number of crimes in Boynton Beach and increase the quality of life for its citizens.

Pro-active Crime Prevention Activities

We offer free home/business security surveys, C.A.T. - combat auto theft, Operation ID and Juvenile Education Programs. CPTED - The Safer by Design philosophy recognizes that neighborhood environments can either encourage or discourage criminal activity. The Crime Prevention Unit also coordinates the Boynton Beach Police Department's Citizen's Police Academy. This program exposes citizens to the responsibilities of each element of the department, and aids them in gaining a more realistic appreciation of the practices of policing our community.

Crime Prevention UnitOrganizing Citizen Observer Patrol/ Neighborhood Watch Groups

We actively recruit residents to organize their blocks. Volunteers (block leaders) are taught crime prevention techniques and how to network information and inform the police when illegal or suspicious behavior is occurring.
