The Professional Standards Division works as an essential
element of the department's administrative component.
Professional Standards personnel are responsible for
recommending policy drafts, ensuring that the department adopts
accreditation guidelines applicable to our community,
maintaining a progressive partnership with members of the media,
investigating allegations of policy violations, conducting staff
inspections and ensuring that we operate in a drug free
environment.
The Professional Standards Division works in conjunction with
the Chief of Police to set a bar of expectation and to ensure
that these expectations are met.
The Internal Affairs Section of the
Professional Standards Unit is responsible for ensuring
that the community understands the department's zero tolerance
stance toward biased-based profiling.

The Professional Standards Division works closely with finance
personnel to secure grant monies. The division also serves as
the liaison to Human Resources for internal promotional testing.
