Be a hero for Sickle Cell patients by donating blood. This event is hosted by the Boynton Beach Police Department in partnership with the Boynton Beach Coalition of Clergy and OneBlood during National Faith & Blue Weekend.
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disorder in which red blood cells may become sickle-shaped and harden. Sickle cell disease is not contagious, and there is no universal cure. The blockage of blood flow caused by sickled cells leads to many complications including chronic pain, infection, lung tissue damage, blindness, kidney disease and stroke.
