Barbara Rodriguez Marrero began her career focused on substance abuse with the juvenile population at Everglades Correctional Institution.

She also worked as an intensive juvenile probation officer in Miami-Dade. She has also worked with individuals and families providing advocacy, case management services, therapy, educational groups. She has provided outpatient therapy to families, and worked with a variety of offenders for pre-trial diversion. She also served as an advisory council member for a domestic violence organization.

Barbara earned her bachelors of science in Criminal Justice as well as Sociology/Anthropology from Florida International University in Miami. She has also earned a masters of arts in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University in Arlington, VA and is currently working on her dissertation for a PhD in Human Services from Albizu University in Miami.
