More than 30 K9 teams representing 20 law enforcement agencies from across the state will put their skills to the test on Saturday at the 7th annual South Florida Police K9 Competition.
Police officers and their K9 partners will take the field at 2 p.m. on March 24 at Boynton Beach High School, 4975 Park Ridge Blvd.
They begin with the obstacle course portion of the competition, followed at 5 p.m. with a demonstration featuring K9 teams from the Boynton Beach and Delray Beach police departments. The hardest hitting and fastest running dog competitions will follow at around 6 p.m.
In addition to the main events, there will be a rock climbing wall, bounce house, balloon artists and SWAT obstacle course for kids. Food from Miller’s Ale House in Boynton Beach will be available for purchase, as well as drinks, cotton candy and popcorn.
The Fraternal Order of Police Gold Coast Lodge #49 is hosting a raffle with thousands of dollars in prizes.
K9 teams will be competing from the following agencies: Boynton Beach Police Department, Delray Beach Police Department, Boca Raton Police Services Department, Riviera Beach Police Department, Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, Lauderhill Police Department, Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, Port St. Lucie Police Department, Sunny Isles Beach Police Department, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Miami Police Department, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Highlands County Sheriff’s Office, Hallandale Beach Police Department, Vero Beach Police Department, Cocoa Police Department, Coral Gables Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Sebastian Police Department.
