Boynton Beach Police will honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice during its 37th Annual Police Memorial Ceremony on Friday, May 15.
The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. in the clubhouse at Village Royale on the Green, 2505 N.E. 2nd Court.
During the ceremony, the department will honor its Officer of the Year – Brent Joseph; Detective of the Year – Agent Jon Kautz; Supervisor of the Year – Mario Bryant; and Civilian Employee of the Year – Network Coordinator Randy Northrop.
In addition, the department will present Community Partnership Awards to Boynton Beach residents Helena Fallon and Jake Lemon.
Fallon, a retired elementary school teacher, is our “K9 Grandma.” She routinely goes out of her way to make K9 Duke, Daxxx, Filip and Bako (and their human officer partners) feel appreciated. She has made several financial donations to the South Florida Police K9 Competition, and brings lunch for road patrol officers working during holidays. She is a truly special woman and we are so blessed that she lives in our city.
Jake Lemon, 10, is the chairman of Jake’s Helping Heart. In December 2014, he organized and hosted Cupcakes with a Cop where kids decorated two gourmet cupcakes with Boynton Beach Police Officers. His event raised nearly $2,000 for the Community Caring Center of Greater Boynton Beach. He is a shining example of how one small idea can have such a huge impact on a community.
