Since the beginning of this year, 49 guns have been stolen from cars in the City of Boynton Beach. The Boynton Beach Police Department is committed to working with gun owners to keep their firearms safe and out of the hands of criminals. We have a limited number of gun locks available to give away free of charge. If you live in the City of Boynton Beach, you can pick up a gun lock at our substation, 209 N. Seacrest Blvd., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
A gun lock will prevent a criminal from being able to use the firearm, but it won’t stop them from stealing the weapon. Please be a responsible gun owner and if you must leave your firearm in a car, make sure it is in a secured safe that is out of plain view. We also encourage you to write down the gun’s serial number so that you can provide it to police if your firearm is ever stolen. Finally, lock your car doors. More than half of the guns stolen this year were from cars that had been left unlocked.
The last thing you want is for your gun to be stolen and then used in a crime where someone is hurt or killed. The best crime prevention is YOU. #SaferBoyntonBeach
