Officers responded to Las Ventanas in reference to two subjects that overdosed on heroin. Both subjects were transported to Bethesda Hospital. One was pronounced deceased at approximately 0300 hours. The other subject will most likely make a full recovery.
16-40864 2057 hours Fire 1901 N. Seacrest Blvd
Officers responded to a fire at the Ezell Hester playground. Miscellaneous items were set on fire in the mulch causing minor damage to the playground equipment. Fire extinguished by officers on scene.
16-40881 2311 hours Shots Fired Shore Drive(Coquina Cove)
The area was checked after a caller reported 12 shots fired in the area. A canvass did not locate any damage or evidence of a crime.
16-40896 0045 hours Improper Exhibition/ Firearm 2821 S. Federal Hwy
A caller reported that a male, later identified as Eddie Gentry, entered a vehicle in the Homing Inn parking lot with a “machine gun” slung over his shoulder. Believing this to be suspicious, he provided vehicle information and direction of travel. Officer Loshelder located the vehicle several miles from the location. A high-risk stop was conducted and a loaded Kel Tec rifle was recovered from the passenger side floor. Gentry was arrested for Improper Exhibition of a Dangerous Weapon/Firearm. He was subsequently sent to the Palm Beach County Jail.
