Police are investigating a carjacking that occurred Wednesday night outside a Boynton Beach Publix.
A 59-year-old Boynton Beach woman was putting groceries in the trunk of her car in the Sunshine Square parking lot at 501 S.E. 18th Ave., around 9:40 p.m., when she saw three men walking toward her from a rear alleyway.
One of the suspects began pulling her purse from her shoulder. When she tried to resist, he pointed a black handgun at her. The purse strap broke and the woman ran away with her purse in her hands.
During the struggle, however, one of the suspects was able to grab her car key. She then saw all three men get into her white 2012 Chevy with Florida Tag L037KA. The suspects fled in her car, which was last seen heading west in the shopping center parking lot.
The main suspect who pointed a gun at the victim is described as a black male, 18-19 years old, between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall, thin build, short hair, no facial hair and wearing a white short-sleeve shirt and long black pants. The other two suspects are also black males, 15-16 years old, approximately 5-foot-5 with short hair, no facial hair and same clothing description.
