Detectives on Aug. 17, arrested Shamari Patrick and charged her with grand theft. Patrick responded to a Craigslist advertisement looking for a dog sitter.
She sold the dog, Fluffy, via Craigslist to another woman.
Boynton Beach Police Detective Brent Joseph was able to identify the woman who purchased Fluffy and made contact with her. She told Det. Joseph that she responded to an add on Craigslist for the sale of the dog on July 18. She paid Patrick $300 for the dog, who Patrick called Maverick. The woman said she did not know the dog was stolen. Patrick told her the dog was hers and she could no longer take care of him.
Det. Joseph brought Fluffy back to the BBPD, where he was reunited with his family.
