Meet K9 Harley, the Boynton Beach Police Department’s therapy dog

Did you know that the Boynton Beach Police Department has a therapy dog? Meet Harley, a 7-year-old Beagle mix who has served the City of Boynton Beach for three years.

Harley’s human partner is Det. Astrel Labbe, an 18-year veteran who is assigned to the Special Victims Unit. She has helped him with hundreds of cases ranging from child abuse and sexual battery to human trafficking and suicides. Harley has also assisted the Child Protection Team of Palm Beach and other law enforcement agencies during their interviews of victims.

Harley loves meeting members of the community, and you’ll always see her at our events, including Coffee with a Cop and National Night Out.

Harley was trained at the Paws & Stripes College at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. The Boynton Beach Police Department was the first municipal law enforcement agency to employ a therapy dog.
