Nearly 100 children from local schools will team up with Boynton Beach police officers to shop for holiday presents during the 9th annual Shop with a Cop.
The two day event begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Walmart, 3625 S. Federal Highway, and continues from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 at another Walmart location, 3200 Old Boynton Road.
Each child will receive a $100 gift card to go shopping with officers. They will also be treated to demonstrations by the Boynton Beach Police Department’s K-9 Unit, Motor Unit, and SWAT team.
The children participating were selected from Galaxy Elementary School, Poinciana Elementary School, Crosspointe Elementary School, Forrest Park Elementary School, Rolling Green Elementary School, Freedom Shores Elementary School and Citrus Cove Elementary School.
Shopping times with officers are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. both days.
Members of the media will be allowed to video and photograph inside the stores as the children shop with the officers. All interviews will have to be done outside of the store.
