At the beginning of the school year, we made a commitment to you that we would enforce speed in school zones throughout the City of Boynton Beach so that your children could get to school and home safely.
We often posted about the number of citations and warnings written at school zones in an effort to keep you informed and remind drivers of the 20 mph speed and hefty fines for speeding.
During the 2021/2022 school year, officers wrote 938 citations and 523 warnings to drivers speeding in school zones. This is an increase from the previous year when 815 citations were written. There was a decrease in warnings from 581 in 2020/2021.
Our goal is not to write tickets…it’s to keep everyone safe as they travel the roadways in our city. Let’s commit to working together to make it happen.
