A Lake Worth man is in jail this morning, charged with vehicular homicide for the May 13 crash on Boynton Beach Boulevard and Winchester Park Boulevard that resulted in the death of another man.
Paul Octavious McCormack, Jr., 31, was “driving 95 mph 5 seconds prior to the crash, reaching a speed of 98 mph in the 5 seconds leading up to the crash” that killed a 49-year-old Lake Worth man, according to data obtained from the airbag control module on his blue 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. In 5 seconds, McCormack Jr.’s car traveled 709 feet, over the length of 2 1/3 football fields, Traffic Homicide Investigator Vinny Mastro’s extensive investigation determined.
McCormack Jr. was arrested by Boynton Beach on Thursday and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. The Boynton Beach Police Department thanks the Florida Highway Patrol for their assistance with this investigation.
