The Boynton Beach Police Department is pleased to announce that it has been reaccredited with Excelsior distinction for another three years by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.
This is the agency’s second Excelsior recognition in three years, a distinction given only to departments that have demonstrated excellence through passing five consecutive reaccreditation cycles.
The accreditation process involved meeting or exceeding approximately 250 standards, many of which were critical to life, health and safety issues.
“I am incredibly proud of our team’s diligence and efforts to prepare us for another successful assessment,” Police Chief Michael G. Gregory said. “This is another one of our many efforts to continue building trust between the police department and the community we serve. The community should have confidence that this agency is exceeding statewide standards.”
The Boynton Beach Police Department was initially accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation in 2001. Since then, the agency has gone through six onsite assessments, attaining Excelsior recognition in 2016. The Boynton Beach Police Department is one of 56 out of approximately 340 police agencies in the State of Florida that currently holds this status.
