SCAM ALERT: This check for $2,446.26 was sent to the mother-in-law of one of our officers. The letter enclosed with it told her to immediately deposit the check and then use $2,000 of it to buy American Express gift cards. She should take a photo of the front and back of the card, and they would follow up with her to tell her what to do next.
You can see where this is going. This is a scam and that check is fake. Fortunately, the officer’s mother-in-law went to a trusty search engine and not the bank. A quick search of the “survey company” revealed this to be a scam. If it sounds too good to be true – trust your gut!
